REDDING, Calif. -

Gamers have just a few hours to wait for the new Playstation.

At 12:01 a.m. Friday, the brand new Playstation 4 goes on sale.

The lines are already forming at stores across the country.  Outside the Best Buy in Redding there were three people camped out early Thursday.

Friends Eric Bennett, Craig Wolfman and Ashley Crowell shivered in a small tent at 4:30 a.m..  They said they want to be the first in Redding to get the new Playstation console.
The trio has been camped out at the store on Hilltop Drive since 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Bennett said it's worth the wait.  "It's a better system.  Playstation is better than Xbox.  Overall it's a better system, it doesn't have as many problems.  Yeah you pay more but it's a good product."

It has been seven years since Playstation has launched a new console.  The updated model has new controls with touchscreens and a 500 GB hard drive.  Another new feature allows players to record up to 15 minutes of game play to share with their friends.
Best Buy stores in Redding and Chico will open just after midnight, at 12:01 a.m. Friday, November 15, to sell the Playstation 4.  It's priced at 400 dollars.

Rival Xbox one debuts next Friday, November 22, with a retail price of 500 dollars.
