REDDING, Calif. -

Since December of 2012, a total of eight separate officer-involved shootings have been investigated in the Northstate area, involving Redding police officers, Red Bluff police officers, Shasta County Sheriff’s deputies, Trinity County Sheriff’s deputies, CHP officers and SWAT team members.

Out of the eight times law enforcement officials fired their weapons, five suspects survived their gunshot wounds. Three other suspects were killed by a duty weapon.

Those who died as a result of their wounds include 25-year-old Adam Stevens, who was first hit with non-lethal bean-bag rounds before Red Bluff police officers discharged their guns, killing Stevens.

51-year-old Jane Peeler was shot and killed in Trinity County, following complaints she was threatening someone with a rifle, and had fired her weapon.

38-year-old John Snider died after being hit by gunfire following a two-hour standoff with Shasta County SWAT team members.

The three shootings that left the suspects dead were all investigated by outside agencies, and deemed justified.
