Fireworks

Thinking of setting off fireworks this Fourth of July? If so, you might want to make sure what you're doing isn't breaking the law.

Fireworks are illegal in Shasta, Butte, and Trinity counties, but there are two exceptions: safe and sane fireworks are legal within city limits of Gridley and Oroville.

They're also legal in Tehama county, except for Lake California, and in Glenn County.

"Safe and sane" fireworks include sparklers, caps, ground spinners, and smoke bombs.

Anything that actually flies is generally illegal.

Cal Fire says anybody who causes a fire using fireworks can be charged with a felony, or issued citations and/or fines.
