CHICO, Calif. -

Butte County are preparing for a heat wave coming their way by trying to cool off at the water.

Park goers were trying to stay cool out at the Sycamore Pool at One-Mile earlier on Friday afternoon.

Doug Lawrence, of Orland said his family was visiting him from Colorado, so they drove to Sycamore Pool just to cool off.

"This is one of those places where you can take your little kids," said Lawrence. "Their dad swam here and it's one of the first places their mom and dad learned to drive."

Doug brought his seven grandchildren out to the park. He said that Sycamore Pool is really special because it does not use chlorine like most other swimming pools do.

It’s going to be a scorcher for the Bidwell Park Birthday Bash on Saturday. Experts say that it is important to stay hydrated and wear plenty of sunscreen.
