REDDING, Calif. -

Police tracked down a robbery suspect after an intense search in Redding Tuesday night.

The robbery happened around 7:15 p.m. at the 76 Gas Station at East Cypress and Bechelli Lane.

The clerk told police a former employee, 30 year old Ryan Peterson, came in and asked to charge his cell phone.  While the clerk wasn't looking, Peterson allegedly grabbed some cash from the register.

The clerk scuffled with the suspect and said Peterson threatened to shoot him if he did not let him go.  Police said no gun was seen.

A CHP helicopter, a K-9 and several patrol units helped police track the suspect to 555 Leila Avenue where he was arrested.

Police said Peterson admitted to the crime and the missing cash was recovered.
