Homes lose water after car hits fire hydrant
Several homes in east Redding had their water shut off after a car collided with a fire hydrant and broke the water main Monday evening.
Police said the car hit the fire hydrant around 6 p.m. on Argyle Road near Hartnell Avenue. It took about 40 minutes to get the water line shut off. Fire crews with the City of Redding estimate about 30,000 gallons of water were lost.
Redding police said the driver lost control while he was on his way to the gym.
Water was shut off to homes on Argyle Road between Hartnell Avenue and three homes past Inverness Street. According to City of Redding officials, water should be restored Tuesday.
