REDDING, Calif. -

Investigators are looking at attempted murder charges in a father-son stabbing that led to a hand amputation.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. on June 17 at the 21000-block of Scheer Dr.

Deputies said 27-year-old Jason Dunn stabbed his father multiple times after some kind of verbal argument.

When deputies showed up, Jason was standing in the driveway with both hands cut off off at his wrists.

They said the victim, 59-year-old Gregory Dunn, was found lying in his driveway with multiple stab wounds.

Shasta County Sheriff's deputies said both men are still being treated at hospitals and are expected to survive.

They told us Jason was taken to a specialized hospital out of the area.

No official charges have been filed yet, but as of now, they said they are looking at attempted murder charges for Jason.
