One of Redding's premiere family entertainment facilities has closed its doors for good.
Jeter's playground will no longer be open.
It once offered bounce houses, 18 holes of miniature golf, RC racing and an arcade.
The owners said the cost of maintaining the facility became too much to operate but they said the upcoming summer heat would only add thousands of dollars in extra cost.

It is with a heavy heart Jeter’s Playground regrettably announces that it will be closing its doors effective immediately. Closing the playground is not an easy decision for us given the impact on our amazing & hard-working employees and the local community. However, we have an obligation to our family and our other business to make tough decisions when necessary.
After careful review of all responsibilities both time related as well as financial, we have made this very difficult decision. Unfortunately the cost of maintaining the facility was just too exorbitant for us to continue. Knowing that the utilities alone will be climbing by thousands of dollars because of the summer heat played a big role in our final decision.
Operating the playground has been a joy for our family, creating an environment where families could bring their children to enjoy a day of healthy activity.
We will greatly miss the interaction we were blessed to have each day with your children. Please know that our family will continue to stay committed to our community by volunteering our time and resources to local charities and school organizations.
Lastly, all summer memberships will be reimbursed and any parties/events that have been booked out will be refunded back.
