Right on schedule, the state of California started collecting the annual $150 dollar rural fire fighting fee again on Monday.

REDDING, Calif. -

Right on schedule, the state of California started collecting the annual $150 dollar rural fire fighting fee, again, on Monday.

The fee was suspended for four months because 1300 parcels were incorrectly identified as being in the state responsibility area.

North State lawmakers held an informational tele-townhall meeting Monday night to better educate folks and to let them know about a lawsuit that was filed against the fee by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association.

Shasta County Supervisor, Les Baugh invited folks to listen in at the Shasta County Board of Supervisors' Chambers, Monday night.

Baugh told residents to pay the bill, but also encouraged them to fill out a protest sheet, which comes with the bill.
