A long-time and well-known art teacher at Pleasant Valley High School in Chico was killed while camping in Alaska.

Edwin Logan, 72, died on Tuesday after falling onto rocks during a camping trip with friends in the Alaskan port city of Seward.

Alaska state troopers said it appears the fall was accident.

Logan taught art for more than 30 years at Pleasant Valley High before retiring and working part-time at Butte College.

Logan was also an accomplished artist.

He is survived by three grown children, two daughters and one son, all of whom live in Oregon.
