REDDING, Calif. -

An eight-year-old Redding boy suffering from cystic fibrosis is getting his wish granted.  Christopher Elliott’s wish was for his whole family to go on a vacation.

So the Make-A-Wish Foundation is sending him and his whole family to Hawaii for a week.  While they’re there the whole family will get to take a ride on the Sugar Cane Train on Maui and will get to take a ride in a submarine.

The train was a big deal for Christopher, and to ride one in Hawaii just makes it all the better.  And just knowing that they’re about to go has really brightened his mood.

“He’s been excited. There’s a lot of anticipation for him,” said Roger Eliott, Christopher’s dad.  “We’ve shown him pictures of the Sugar Cane Train and we’ve shown him pictures of Maui. So he’s definitely excited.”

If you can believe it, the tropical paradise of Hawaii wasn’t Christopher’s first choice.  His father says he wanted to go to Scotland to see and ride the steam trains.  The family decided to stay in the country because Christopher’s illness has caused him to need hospitalization on previous vacations.

The family flies to Hawaii Friday morning.  They’ll be staying there for about a week.
