Marvin Markle, Jr., the man accused of killing 41-year-old Shirley Pratt in Oroville in 2001, pleaded not guilty in court on Wednesday.
Markle's defense said they have not seen any of the police reports or witness statements. They also said they have supporting letters for Markle that could help him get out on his own recognizance, or he could be free while awaiting trial without posting bail.
The defense is currently working on a work up order to do this and they will present their case on August 7 at 8:30 a.m.
In the meantime, Markle's bail is set at $2 million.
