Man arrested after service station robbery

A former employee of Jindra’s Auto Service on Cypress Avenue is in jail after police say he robbed the gas station Tuesday night around 7:15 p.m.
He is identified as Ryan Peterson, 30.
Peterson used to work for Jindra’s but, according to cashier Dustin Panger, was fired a few years ago for stealing from the service station.
Surveillance video shows a man thought to be Peterson open the cash register and grab money out of the drawer.
It also shows Panger trying to stop Peterson from getting away. Panger was out collecting squeegees from the gas pumps and caught Peterson at the door where he says he wrestled Peterson to the ground.
At that point Panger says Peterson threatened to shoot him if he didn’t let go and Peterson escaped.
Police arrested Peterson less than half-a-mile away.
Another man named Glen Black was arrested around the same time and very near to where Peterson was caught.
He caught investigators' attention when he tried to break into his own van to hide from police after locking his keys inside.
Panger thinks the two incidents might be connected since he said Peterson has had previous problems with drug abuse, was reportedly acting like he was on something and Black was allegedly caught with a large amount of meth and marijuana in the van.
Police have not connected Black to the robbery and believe it to be a separate incident.
