Man arrested in father-son stabbing, hand amputation; pleads not guilty to attempted murder

Man with severed hands accused of stabbing father

59-year-old Gregory Dunn, was found lying in his driveway with multiple stab wounds after his son, Jason Dunn, allegedly attacked him. Jason then cut off both his hands with a table saw.

REDDING, Calif. -

The man who deputies say stabbed his father, than chopped off his own hands had his first court appearance at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.

Jason Dunn, 27, was arrested on Friday on charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. An arrest warrant was issued for Dunn on July 9.

Dunn, whose hands were heavily bandaged at the arraignment, pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder charge.

His bail is set at $575,000 and his preliminary hearing is set to happen on August 15.

The incident happened at around 3:30 p.m. on June 17 on the 21000-block of Scheer Dr. in Redding. Deputies said Dunn stabbed his father, Gregory Dunn multiple times following some kind of verbal argument.

When deputies arrived on the scene, Gregory Dunn, 59, was lying in the driveway with multiple stab wounds and Jason Dunn was standing in the driveway with both hands cut off at his wrists.
