Man Convicted in Deadly Gang-Related Stabbing
A suspected Norteno gang member from San Jose was found guilty Thursday of Anderson's first murder in five years.
The jury convicted Vincent Chavez Jr., 31, in the fatal stabbing of Sue Saeturn after a birthday party at the Anderson Community Center on August 13, 2011.
People who were there said it started as a fight over a dog.
The verdict was returned around 3 p.m. Thursday.
Chavez was found guilty of first degree murder with special circumstances which included a gang and street terrorism enhancement.
The Anderson Police Department issued a news release Friday, extending their gratitude to the victim's family for their patients and believe this strong verdict will help bring some closure to their loss.
