When Red Bluff resident Ben Pasquale dropped $900 in cash in the parking lot of the Home Depot, he said he never expected to get it back.
Pasquale said he had the money in his pocket and it somehow slipped from his money clip.
"I had it in my pocket to pay some bills and the next morning I wake up and it was gone. I was stressed out,” said Pasquale.
What Ben did not know at the time was that someone had already called about finding the cash - a man who thought it was just a couple of dollar bills.
"He was planning to return it to the police and then he got home and realized it was $900 he said he didn't have his glasses when he was at the store and didn't realize how much it was," said Jordan Miller, Operations Manager at Home Depot.
That man called the Home Depot and thanks to some quick detective work, the rightful owner of the money was found.
Pasquale said he could not be more grateful.
"Times are so tough, people are out of work and for somebody to find $900 laying on the floor and just pick it up and give it back to you is unbelievable, "said Pasquale.
The first name of the good Samaritan is Ian but he never gave his last name.
Home Depot did offer to reward the man for returning the money but he declined saying he simply wanted to do the right thing.
