A motorcycle accident on Highway 299 in Bella Vista left a man critically injured on Monday morning.
We reported on the accident on Monday but now, a family friend is telling us that the motorcyclist, Andrew Wright, is brain dead and will be taken off of life support on Tuesday or Wednesday.
California Highway Patrol Officer Randy Rudd said on Monday that Wright and his friend were riding eastbound behind a logging truck when Wright decided to cross over the double yellow lines in an attempt to pass it.
"He came into this left hand curb he couldn't negotiate the curb,” said Officer Rudd.
According to Wright's friend, who was interviewed by CHP officers, Wright allowed his bike to drift to the ground and then attempted to straighten it out but could not do it.
At that point, Wright went off roadway, jumped over a driveway, ended up crashing and went through fence.
CHP says there was no alcohol involved in the incident. Wright was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Redding via a helicopter for treatment.
