Multiple children suffer burns after vehicle fire

BIGGS, Calif. -

CAL FIRE said three children were air-lifted to the UC Davis Burn Center after the SUV they were riding in caught on fire Sunday evening.

The fire was reported around 5 p.m. in the are of Larkin Road and E. Bonito Road in Biggs.

CAL FIRE said two young children were critically burned and the third suffered major burns.

A fourth child and an adult were also in the vehicle.

Investigators confirm a propane tank and a battery were found in the SUV but could not say how the fire actually started.

Three ground ambulances and three helicopters responded to the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the fire.
