Police: Thief made up pizza sob story

A would-be thief who broke down during a Papa John's robbery made up the sob story that got him free food, police in Montana said.
David Lacey, 35, entered the Helena restaurant Jan. 22 wearing a bandana over his face and gave the clerk a note demanding money, The Associated Press reported.
The cashier started to hand him money, but Lacey began crying and said he was just trying to provide for his family.
The clerk eventually made him a large pepperoni pizza and some chicken wings, and Lacey left.
But an investigation by police found Lacey has no children in Helena and only changed his story when he saw how little money there was in the cash register, the Independent Record reported.
Lacey has since been arrested on suspicion of felony robbery.
According to court records, he told police he needed the money to buy food.
