Castrillo Matajudíos sounds like a lovely place. Unless you speak Spanish.

The tiny Spanish village, which translates to "Jew Killer" or "Kill the Jews," got its grisly moniker because Jews were massacred there not once, but twice, during the Spanish Inquisition, the Diario de Burgos newspaper reported.

This week, its 60 resident families will vote on a name change.

Mayor Lorenzo Rodriguez is pushing for Castrillo Mota de Judíos, or "Castrillo Jews' Hill," instead. It's thought to have been the town's original name.

"The majority decision will be respected, even if it is only by one vote," Rodriquez said, according to The Local.

Spain is currently home to about 12,000 Jews, according to The Guardian.
