If you want your kids to get some basketball coaching from an N.B.A. professional,
you'll have your chance this Monday.
Derrick Williams of the Minnesota Timberwolves is coming to Redding to teach kids of all ages a thing or two about shooting hoops.
Williams was picked up by the Minnesota Timberwolves after an illustrious career playing for the University of Arizona. There he captured Pac-10 freshmen honors and multiple Freshmen All-American Awards. As a sophomore, he lead Arizona to an Elite-8 appearance, averaged 19.5 points-per-game, and was named Pac-10 player of the year.
At the 2013 Skills Academy, Williams and his staff will teach kids the fundamental skills to become all-around better players, with team and individual training.
His highly skilled staff includes two NBA trainers, former WNBA player Jamie Redd, and several other basketball players that have faced Williams on the court.
Every camper will get a chance to take a photo with Derrick, and get his autograph.
The camp runs Monday through Thursday, July 29th through August 1st.
There are two different camps, the "Day Camp" and the "Little Dribblers Camp".
The day camp is for ages 9 to 18 and runs from 9 a.m to 2 p.m. Registration costs $200.
For the "Little Dribblers," the camp only runs until noon; and registration is only $100.
Registration is open all weekend.
To get an early spot, just send an e-mail to U-Prep basketball coach Steven Schuster at email@example.com.
You can also register on Monday at the Harlan Carter Gym at Shasta High School in Redding; registration opens at 8:30 a.m.
