Neighbor dispute leads to shooting, one hurt
COTTONWOOD, Calif. -

One man was taken to the hospital and another to jail after a neighbor dispute led to a shooting Sunday evening.

Deputies arrested 80-year-old Noel Ware for attempted murder.

It happened just before 6:30 p.m. on the 3400 block of Frances Street in Cottonwood.

According to investigators, Ware got into an argument with his neighbor, Patrick Martinez, Sr.

Ware went out into the street and confronted Patrick Martinez Sr.   Ware fired his handgun twice at Martinez Sr. missing him both times.  Martinez Sr. ran to his house for shelter.

Patrick Martinez Jr. was standing in his front yard when the shooting started.  Martinez Jr. also ran towards the house to seek cover.  Deputies said Ware turned to Martinez Jr. and fired two additional shots at Martinez Jr.  One of the shots hit Martinez Jr. in the left calf.

His injuries are not life-threatening.  Deputies said the two neighbors have a long-standing feud.
