There are brand new criminal charges against a Chico physician's assistant already accused of kidnapping two Chico State students and raping one of them.

Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey issued a news release Thursday night, saying Lonnie Keith, 41, is now charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a third young woman.

Keith was arrested during a traffic stop in January.  Police pulled him over for running a stop sign near Chico State University in the South Campus area.  Investigators said inside the vehicle Keith had syringes, handcuffs, leg shackles and sedatives.

Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey said the new charges involve another kidnapping and sexual assault from the Spring of 2012.

Ramsey said it also involved the use of drugs.

Keith was arraigned on the new charges Thursday afternoon.  His trial is scheduled to start October 7.  If convicted he faces several life sentences.  Keith remains in the Butte County Jail.
