North State teen credits tennis program to big weight loss, life turnaround

Ryan Wilson weighed 250 pounds, lacked motivation, and his grades were so bad that he was kicked of the Foothill High School tennis team.

REDDING, Calif. -

The non-profit tennis group, Ascension has changed a North State teen's life for the better.

In 2012, 17-year-old Ryan Wilson weighed 250 pounds, lacked motivation, and his grades were so bad that he was kicked off the Foothill High School tennis team.

Looking for a turnaround, Ryan's parents enrolled him in Ascension and the rest is a success story.

Ryan lost 75 pounds, he finished his tennis league undefeated, and he even won section.

Ryan and his family credit the program, which has taught him accountability and responsibility.
