Northstate family takes a bite at the commercial biz

RED BLUFF, Calif. -

A Doritos obsessed officer chases down a chip-loving culprit in an ad, filmed in the Northstate.

If the commercial is chosen as one of the best, by online voters, the winners would take home a million dollars, and get a trip to Super Bowl XLVIII in New York.

“I would love to see it get some actual air time,” says Cameron King, who plays the Doritos munching driver in the spot.

But King isn’t taking the credit for the commercial concept.

"Everything, this whole idea was my father in-laws idea. He watches the Super Bowl all the time, he just gets a kick out of the commercials. He wanted to submit something, he felt like we could put something together that was decent, that would be a lot of fun for us to do," explains King.

Although the payout could be big, King says the money isn’t why they decided to make the ad.

“We didn't think it would be anything serious. We just wanted to have some fun, spend some time together and be a little creative," says King.

If they do take home first prize, King says he’d want to use the funds to focus on his family.

"I have a new family that I would love to get a house for," says King.

As for the shriek that King lets out in the ad, he says that perfect pitch is something he’s been working on for years.

"I've been screaming like that at football games and places, basketball games, for my brothers, ever since I was little,” says King.

And his background in choir might be exactly what this commercial needed, to really sing.

“I was always concerned about hurting my vocal cords. Screaming in falsetto was always a lot easier, and you don't hurt yourself when you do it,” explains King.

Online voting ends Tuesday at midnight.

The top five finalists are expected to be announced Wednesday.
