Homeowners on Bancroft Drive in Chico are preparing for another downpour of rain this week. Six homes in the neighborhood were flooded two weeks ago during the city's last storm.
None of the six were insured for flooding because the City of Chico said the area was not flood-prone.
Meanwhile, some homeowners have already begun repairs. But others are still waiting to see what the final cost will be. For Matt Blofsky, his wife and daughter the cost could exceed six figures.
A Chico real estate agent predicts the values of these homes will suffer, "I think the city is going to have to say that something has been fixed or these homes are going to be tough to sell," said real estate agent Brent McCarthy.
While the city maintains that the neighborhood is not flood-prone, it did provide a pump to prevent future rain from coming down the slope and damaging these homes a second time. But that's too little too late for Matt Blofsky and the other five homeowners.
