Palo Cedro couple turns passion into business by opening a winery
A Palo Cedro couple is turning their hobby into an actual business by opening their own commercial winery.
Tony and Laura Baldwin say it all started as a hobby when they decided to take some classes at Shasta College.
In 2005, the Baldwins planted a few rows of grapes that would turn into more rows.
Now, the couple believes it is time to share their passion.
Their winery, which is called Amber Valley Winery, will carry a variety of wines. They grow three varieties of red grapes and two varieties of white grapes.
Laura Baldwin said that the winery is only the beginning.
"An open tasting room will be open three to four days a week [and] on the weekends for people to come and just sample our wines and have a fun time," Baldwin said. "We'll have music, we'll have a movie night on the weekends where people can just relax..."
The Amber Valley Winery will be open at the end of July. Hours will be Wednesday to Saturday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
