PG&E plans blackout in Shasta and Tehama Counties

MANTON, Calif. -

Power will be cut off to over 1,300 customers in the NorthState tomorrow.

PG&E has planned a power outage for southern Manton, and the towns of Paynes Creek, Mill Creek and Mineral.

PG&E sent a letter notifying affected customers of the outage about a month ago.

The outage is to allow PG&E to install new power poles, extra lines and fuses.

The new equipment is designed to reduce the scale of power outages, and reduce the number of customers affected when the power does go down.

The power will shut off at 8 a.m. on Tuesday and will be off until 4 p.m. the same day at the latest.

PG&E said they are planning to replace 17 utility poles and string over 3,000 feet of new power line in addition to adding eight new fuses.

No cooling stations will be provided because PG&E said they have provided it before, and no one shows up.
