A Redding Police patrol car was rammed during a high-speed pursuit Thursday night.
The pursuit started around 9:30 p.m. when police responded to a report of possible vehicle burglaries in progress near Twin View Blvd. and Caterpillar Rd.
Redding Police Cpl. Phil Eoff says officers spotted a silver Toyota Prius driving without lights in a nearby motel parking lot.
When they tried to stop it, the suspect took off, leading them onto southbound Interstate 5, Highway 44, Auditorium Dr., Butte St., the parking lot of Shasta Regional Medical Center, and toward downtown Redding, reaching speeds of up to 90 mph.
Then, police say the suspect intentionally rammed a patrol car at Center St. and Placer St. The officer and K9 in that car were not hurt.
The suspect eventually stopped the car on a curb and ran away at Shasta and Oregon.
Pursuing officers and a different K9 were able to apprehend him.
He is facing charges of felony evading, assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, and resisting arrest among other possible charges.
Police believe the Prius he was driving could be stolen.
