CHICO, Calif. -

Chico Police had to use pepper spray to help take a woman into custody for public intoxication.

At 7:35 a.m. Friday, police responded to 1244 Magnolia Avenue Apt. 7 regarding the report of a fight between two adult sisters.

They found Megan Carey, 23, standing outside the apartment by herself.  The officer determined Carey was too intoxicated to care for her own safety or the safety of others.

As the officer attempted to place the suspect under arrest for public intoxication, the Carey resisted.  Officers used pepper spray, to take her into custody. The suspect was treated on scene by medical personnel for exposure to the chemical agent and then transported to Butte County Jail.

She was charged with 647(f) PC- Public Intoxication and 148(a)(1) PC- Delay, Resist or Obstruct and Officer.
