CHICO, Calif -

Chico police say a suspect may have used his truck to intentionally run into a man.  Later, the driver showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound.

The incident happened Friday around 8:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Rancheria Drive.  Chico Police said the driver of a red truck pulled into the complex and struck the victim, a 25-year-old man, who was sitting in a chair.

A friend of the victim said he feared for his safety and thought the driver of the red truck was going to hit him.  The friend fired a gun into the truck trying to stop it.

The driver of the red truck pulled out of the complex and immediately crashed into some parked vehicles.  He ran from the vehicle, and was picked up by a blue pickup truck which sped away from the scene.

The victim was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.  His name was not immediately released.

A short time later, a 28-year-old man showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest.  He was in critical but stable condition.

Detectives conducted interviews and are still trying to determine exactly what happened.

Anyone who witnessed the series of events is asked to call Chico Police.
