REDDING, Calif. -

Police are searching for a theft suspect who they say stole merchandise from a Verizon store Thursday evening.

The theft happened just after 8 p.m. at the Verizon store on the 900 block of Dana Drive. Witnesses reported a man entered the shop, grabbed several Apple iPads that were on display and then ran out of the store.

One customer who was inside the store when it all happened said it seemed like the suspect was there for less than a minute.

“Really fast, grabbed everything and headed west out of the store,” said Greg Hector of Redding.

Law enforcement searched on the ground and in the air. They said the suspect may be armed, but witnesses did not report seeing a weapon.

The suspect is described as a black man, 6 feet 1 inch tall, 220 pounds and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

Contact Redding Police if you know of his whereabouts, (530) 225-4200.
