Palermo vegetation fires now 100 percent contained; evacuations lifted

PALERMO, Calif. -

Multiple agencies responded on Monday to a vegetation fire on Lone Tree Rd. in Palermo.

According to CAL FIRE, the fire started at around 1:40 p.m. when multiple small fires blended into three large fires including a 23-acre fire and a 210-acre fire east of Lone Tree Rd. and north of Palermo Rd.

There is also a 65-acre fire east of Lone Tree Rd. and south of Palermo Rd.

These fires are 100 percent contained as of 8 p.m.

Approximately nine structures have been destroyed, including two residential structures and seven outbuildings.

There has been one civilian injury due to smoke inhalation.

Roads are now reopened to residents.

Mandatory evacuations have been lifted. The evacuations were in place for everything to the east of Lone Tree Rd. from Justelle Dr. to Sunnybrook Ln., and everything south of Lincoln from Odie Way to South Villa Ave.

There are also two power outages affecting 235 customers in the Palermo area. PG&E would not confirm the cause of these outages.

Power should be restored shortly.
