A Bella Vista man was injured when the potato gun he built exploded.
Rich Grant was burned and hit by plastic shrapnel when the bottom of the gun exploded when he tried to fire it.
He sustained cuts and burns on his stomach and cuts on his arm from the explosion.
He was taken to the hospital but was released after about an hour.
The gun was confiscated by the police officer who responded with the ambulance but did not say whether it was legal to build a potato gun.
We contacted the Redding Police Department to inquire on the legality of these devices but never received a return call.
Despite his experience, Grant says he would do it again, and is in the progress of building another potato gun with his friends.
