RED BLUFF, Calif. -

A Red Bluff man led police on a brief high-speed chase after they tried to stop him for running a stop sign on his motorcycle.

Friday night at 10:30 p.m. Red Bluff police say they witnessed 49-year-old Thomas Porterfield run a stop sign at South Jackson Street and Crosby Lane.

When police tried to stop Porterfield, he fled south on Rawson Road for a little more than a mile, reaching speeds of 90 mph and sometimes riding on the wrong side of the road.

Porterfield soon pulled to the side of the road and cooperated with law enforcement.

The officer initiating the stop learned that Porterfield appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested for DUI and evading arrest with bail set at $6,000.
