REDDING, Calif. -

For the first time, a national swimming record was set in Redding.

During last weekend's swim meet at the Redding Aquatic Center, 10 year old Winn Aung set a national record in the 100 meter freestyle with a time of 1:01:21.

That is more than one full second better than the previous age group record which was set 18 years ago by current Brooklyn Nets player Kris Humphries.

Humphries is famous in the world of swimming, and in the NBA. He's known in the world of entertainment for his brief and very public marriage to reality television star Kim Kardashian.

Humphries is perhaps the nationally most well-known National Age Group Record holder outside of Michael Phelps. He still holds the 50 record in 27.71.

Last weekend, Winn Aung also broke seven Sierra Nevada records, and swam a 27.75 in the 50 free, which was just .04 off of Humphries' record as well.

Aung previously broke meet records in the 50 and 100 freestyle at meets in San Diego and Oregon.

The 10-year-old said he doesn't mind long hours of practicing in the pool.  He likes it since it helps him win competitions.

“He’s not taken the sport too seriously, so he’s been able to release some of that stress,” said Redding’s Swim Team Head Coach Mark Wagner.

His father was a successful swimmer in his day.  Now his parents are raising three swimmers.

Winn is the youngest and is constantly competing with his older brother and sister.
