Redding’s Winn Aung has broken another national record in swimming. The 10-year-old already tracked down a pair of Kris Humphries' U.S. 10-and-under National Age Group marks earlier this year. Friday the 10-year-old broke the 200-meter freestyle record at the Arena Grand Challenge in Clovis.
Aung raced to a 52nd-place time of 2:11.32 in prelims, split 31.28, 1:05.34 (34.06), 1:38.81 (33.47), 2:11.32 (32.51) to become the first 10-and-under to surpass the 2:12 barrier in the event. That swim smashed the previous record held by Adam Hinshaw (2:12.18) since 2004.
That gives Aung the 50 free (27.57), 100 free (1:00.67) and 200-meter freestyle marks in the age group.
Aung now holds the top three times in history for his age group in the 100-meter freestyle.
