Music group Avenue of Escape is getting its big break; they’re performing on June 22nd at the Vans Warped Tour in the Bay Area.
This musical festival features top artists, and has been around since 1995. Millions have attended, and it has since spread internationally. Avenue of Escape beat out hundreds of other bands in the “Ernie Ball: Battle of the Bands” online competition. They are the only band to do so from the Northstate.
“I cannot believe it, it’s a dream come true for us,” said bass guitarist and lead vocalist Bryan Barnes.
Based in Redding, they have been together for three years, playing at every venue in the Northstate. They also travel out of town for shows, doing what they love to put their band on the map. Now they are getting ready to take the stage next to some of their biggest idols
“There are all these kids that are so stoked there on music, and now it’s like we are playing there, it’s awesome,” said drummer Kyle Schwenning.
“It’s really surreal for me to be going there and now being on the stage instead of watching in the crowd,” said rhythm guitarist and backup vocalist Justin Sparling.
The group’s goal is to create music that everyone can enjoy.
“We don’t scream, we don’t cuss, we want our music to be attractive to as many people,” said Barnes.
Avenue of Escape wants to encourage other artists to go after their dreams because they’re living proof anything is possible.
“Just goes to show no matter what, you can always accomplish your dreams even if you are from redding you can still do it.
Avenue of Escape has four members: Bryan Barnes, Kyle Schwenning, Justin Sparling and Kyle Kammersgard. For more information about the group visit http://www.facebook.com/avenueofescape
