Redding boy plans to donate birthday presents to foster children
A Redding boy is looking forward to the best birthday party of his young life, but instead of getting presents, he'd like you to donate shoes to foster children.
He said he got the idea when he heard an announcement on the radio.
Nine-year-old Jayce Larmour said everybody needs shoes so he decided to make his birthday all about giving shoes to others. He heard Sleep Train Mattress Center is collecting shoes for foster children so Jayce is asking that instead of presents, family, friends and the community stop by and drop off some footwear at his party on Sat., Oct. 5.
"Shoes have always brought happiness to me so I thought it would bring happiness to foster kids," Jayce said. "You don't get to do most of the stuff when you’re a foster kid so I thought it would bring more happiness to them."
The party will be at the K-2 baseball field in Caldwell park on October 5 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
If you miss the party, you can donate shoes to Sleep Train Mattress Center and tell them Jayce sent you.
