Redding police release names of deputies involved in Anderson shooting

ANDERSON, Calif. -

Redding police released the names of seven Shasta County deputies who were involved in a deputy-involved shooting in Anderson in mid-July.

The deputies and the SWAT team were called to the River Gardens apartment complex in Anderson for a domestic violence call at around 6:15 a.m. on July 17. According to authorities, a male subject was barricaded inside of the apartment with a firearm and a female domestic violence victim suffering from visible injuries was outside.

Upon arrival, law enforcement said that the suspect, John Sebastian Snider, 38, of Happy Valley, fired at them, hitting a vehicle. At this point, officers fired back with several rounds, killing Snider.

The seven deputies have all returned to work and have been identified as:

Beaupre, James – Detective Sergeant: Sgt. Beaupre has been with the Sheriff’s Office for approximately 24 years. He is currently assigned to the Investigations Division.

Eoff, David – Detective: Detective Eoff has seven years of experience with the Sheriff’s Office and is currently assigned to the Investigations Division. Detective Eoff has three years of experience and training as a SWAT Team member.

Erickson, Cary – Deputy: Deputy Erickson has 12 years of experience with the Sheriff’s Office and is currently assigned to Patrol Operations. He is a member of the Sheriff’s SWAT Team, with which he has nine years of experience and training.

Fleming, Tom – Deputy: Deputy Fleming is currently assigned to Patrol Operations for the Sheriff’s Office. He has five years of experience and training with the Sheriff’s Office and four years of experience and training with the SWAT Team.

Magrini, Eric – Sergeant: Sergeant Magrini has six years of experience with the Sheriff’s Office and another nine years of previous law enforcement experience and is currently assigned as an Administrative Sergeant. Sergeant Magrini has six years of training and experience as a Sheriff’s SWAT Team member and another eight years of experience and training as a SWAT member for another law enforcement agency.

Randall, Gene – Detective: Detective Randall is currently assigned to the Investigations Division and has three years of training and experience with the Sheriff’s Office. He has 11 years of law enforcement training and experience with another agency. He has two years of training and experience with the Sheriff’s SWAT Team and another five years of SWAT experience and training with another law enforcement agency.

Thompson, Nick – Detective: Detective Thompson has 11 years of experience and training with the Sheriff’s Office. He is currently assigned to the Investigations Division. Detective Thompson has five years of experience and training as a Sheriff’s SWAT Team member.

Police also released information regarding Snider's past. At the time of the shooting, he had an outstanding $500,000 felony warrant out for his arrest for assault with a deadly weapon and terrorist threats. These offenses were committed against the same victim from the domestic violence incident on July 17.
