An Anderson man is taking parts of bicycles and building new bikes to give to deserving children.
James O'Daniel is an automotive technician, who felt like he needed to do something for low-income families this holiday season.
Last month, O'Daniel started collecting pieces of bicycles and giving them new life.
O'Daniel said he was contacted last month by the Anderson Cottonwood Christian Assistance. They asked him for help and without thinking twice , O'Daniel started working on bikes.
O'Daniel said he’s fortunate that Metro Self Storage in Anderson is letting him use a unit for free, where he fixes the bikes.
I know what it’s like to grow up and wonder whether or not you’re gonna get a present for Christmas, if I could help out a family that'd be great. I’m not asking for anything in return except for a smile,” said O'Daniel.
So far he's worked on 24 bicycles and will continue to work on more till Christmas.
