School District fires superintendent

Lisa Escobar is no longer the superintendent of the Red Bluff Union School District.
That decision was decided Wednesday in a unanimous decision by the Board of Trustees.
Teachers voted no confidence for Escobar in November.
The district hired a consultant who will evaluate communication issues among the superintendent, the board, teachers, and staff.
Escobar's annual salary was more than $136,000 according to school officials. She'll still be paid for the next 12 months.
The Teachers Union stated Escobar caused dysfunction in the district and possible damage to students' educational experiences.
"We, sincerely in our district, appreciate the very hard work and the vision of Ms. Escobar and she has left with our very good wishes," said Barbara McIver, Board of Trustees president.
The board will meet on Tuesday to possibly name an interim superintendent to serve for the rest of the school year.
The board also said they will look very diligently for a new superintendent and they hope to have one by next school year.
We weren't able to reach Lisa Escobar for comment Friday.
Escobar did state in the Red Bluff Daily News, "I was saddened by the decision and proud of the accomplishments made under my leadership."
