The two organizations merged about 18 months ago, but after June 22 the two will be known as "One Safe Place."

Executive Director, Jean King, said the change has been in the works for about 6 to 8 months.

King said the new name is meant to encompass everyone who uses the services associated with the Women's Refuge and Justice Center.

The Shasta Women's Refuge and Shasta Family Justice Center made the announcement after their 7th annual "Dancing with the Stars Shasta County Style" that was held at the Cascade Theater in Redding.

Development Director, Ken White said the name change will also show that One Safe Place is not exclusively for women and is open to serving men as well.

King said the name might be different, but One Safe Place will offer all the services held by the Women's Refuge and Family Justice Center, including helping those who are victims of sexual abuse, as well as domestic violence.
