Sheriff shows appreciation for community volunteers
The Shasta County Sheriff’s Department took time to thank those who donate their time and do volunteer work for the community.
"This is a special day for the Sheriff's Office. We have our annual volunteer appreciation luncheon,” said Sheriff Tom Bosenko.
Nearly 150 volunteers gathered at the Redding Veteran’s Memorial Hall Thursday. Each of whom play a vital role in assisting the Sheriff’s Office in many different facets.
“We have over 300 volunteers throughout the county,” stated Bosenko.
Shasta County community volunteers take part in search and rescue missions. Many are specialized in additional support roles such as mountain rescue and dive teams.
“We recognize our volunteers whether it be citizen volunteer patrol, search and rescue, or our communications unit,” said Bosenko.
Many local businesses donated raffle prizes to show their appreciation to the Sheriff’s office volunteers who selflessly serve the community.
“It's a small token of our way to say thanks," explained Bosenko.
