Deputies: Suspect confesses to shooting man, setting house on fire

CITY OF SHASTA LAKE, Calif. -

Deputies said a suspect confessed to shooting a man and setting his house on fire in the City of Shasta Lake.

Manuel Benta, 58, was arrested for arson and attempted murder minutes after the victim was found at the burning home.

The incident was reported at 10:56 a.m. Wednesday at 1809 Shasta Street.

The home was fully involved in flames when firefighters arrived.. 

According to deputies Benta  admitted to shooting Horace Randazzo, 63, and lighting the home on fire.

Benta was arrested at a nearby Burger King on Shasta Dam Boulevard.

Randazzo is in critical condition at Mercy Medical Center.
