Split opinion by Redding clergy

REDDING, Calif. -

Two distinctly different responses were voiced by Redding clergy members on Wednesday's court rulings.

Roman Catholic priest Father George Snyder immediately went into prayer when he was told of the decisions by our reporter. He later asked about Proposition 8, which was overturned.

"What happened to the people who voted their support for traditional marriage?" Father Snyder asked, "Every person is a child of God. We love the person, we reject and hate the sin."

Retired First Christian Church pastor, the Reverend Heather Hennessey, was jubilant before a celebration in front of the Shasta County Clerk's office in Redding.

"I think my smile says it all. I am delighted. It's been a long time coming," Reverend Hennessey said. "The Supreme Court has said we are all equal in the eyes of the law. I've always felt that way before the eyes of God."
