The NHL and the NHL Players' Association met at the league office for a third straight day of contract talks on Sunday, but no deal on a Collective Bargaining Agreement was reached.
Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly told NHL.com that no future talks have been scheduled as both sides will work internally to consider their position. He said talks could resume at any time.
Sunday's five-hour meeting focused on player-safety issues and various CBA legal issues.
The NHL has already canceled the preseason schedule, and Daly admitted some regular-season games are in jeopardy as well.
The 2012-13 regular season is scheduled to open Oct. 11.
