Jets 2, Avalanche 1 (OT): Blake Wheeler scored at 4:58 of overtime as visiting Winnipeg handed Colorado its fourth consecutive loss (0-1-3).Captain Andrew Ladd also tallied and Wheeler added an assist for the Jets, who defeated the Avalanche for the first time in three tries this season. Al Montoya turned aside 33 shots.The Central Division rivals were less than two seconds away from a shootout before Wheeler scored for the third time in two games, tapping the puck between the pads of Semyon Varlamov to give Winnipeg its second straight win. The goal was Wheeler's third game-winner of the season and second in as many contests.Rookie Nathan MacKinnon scored the lone tally and Varlamov made 35 saves for the Avalanche, who extended their point streak at Pepsi Center to four contests (2-0-2) as they kicked off a seven-game homestand.Winnipeg snapped the scoreless tie with 8:18 remaining in the third period as Wheeler made a backhand pass from behind the net to Ladd, who fired the puck past Varlamov from the low slot. The lead lasted only 29 seconds, however, as MacKinnon's blast from the top of the right faceoff circle deflected off Jets defenseman Zach Bogosian and by Montoya to forge a tie.GAME NOTEBOOK: Colorado RW PA Parenteau suffered a knee injury late in the second period and did not return. ...
