Report: Gronkowski set for fourth surgery
Doctors are hoping that a persistent infection in the arm has cleared through medication, but it won't be determined until the surgury.
ESPN.com reported that Gronkowski consulted with orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews and that the procedure will be performed by upper-limb specialist Dr. Jesse Jupiter of Massachusetts General Hospital.
If the infection is gone, the recovery is expected to take eight to 10 weeks, which would be near the start of training camp.
Gronkowski has experienced setbacks with the arm since the original injury occurred Nov. 18 in a game against the Indianapolis Colts. He rebroke it during a playoff game against the Houston Texans on Jan. 13 and has been limited in offseason workouts.
