MAGALIA, Calif. -

A Stirling City man is dead after a rollover crash. It happened early Sunday, around 1:00 a.m.

The California Highway Patrol said 20-year-old Justin Healey was the passenger in a vehicle being driven by 20-year-old Sara Choate of Magalia. The CHP said the two were headed north on the Skyway, past Powelton Road near Inskip, when Choate lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a steep, dirt embankment.

The vehicle flipped onto the passenger side. The CHP said Healey was not wearing his seatbelt, and died as a result of the crash.

Choate suffered major injuries and was taken to the hospital.

According to the CHP, alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. The collision is still under investigation.
